The internet has dramatically changed the way that we live our lives. From every fundamental day to day activity we can think of, we are potentially networked with something digital.
That is why SENS Foundation creator and famed futurist Jason Hope has been paying so much attention to the growing Internet of Things. The Internet of Things, as Jason Hope describes, is the way that the world is beginning to interface and network all together on the web. Hope dropped in recently to talk a little bit more about how the IoT is interfacing with modern airlines.
Jason Hope points to the Being 787 being run out by Virgin Atlantic as a prime example as to how the Internet of Things (IoT) has begun to change the world for the better. The Boeing 787, as Hope explains, is connected to a wireless network on every part of its body. From the rudder at the back all the way to the nose at the front. Data is constantly being fed, in real time, to computers in order to monitor the airplane and make sure that it is operating safely.
Stepping away from safety concerns of the airplanes themselves Hope points out that other things, such as baggage and fuel efficiency, are going to see marked improvement under the growing IoT. All of these benefits should come as no surprise to Hope as his work as a futurist has made him specially prepared for these sorts of discussions and analysis on the IoT.
