José M Gonzáles – Páramo has a Master of Arts, a Master of Philosophy and a Ph.D from Columbia University . He also holds a Ph.D from Universidad Complutense in Madrid Spain. José M Gonzáles record is not just academic, though, and is a mix of central bank knowledge and practical decision making along with a deep understanding of the private sector and its monetary responsibilities. In addition to his academic knowledge and experience he received from one of the best schools in economics he has also gathered additional education in economics in his various posts in advisory positions.
Because of his exemplary knowledge he was appointed Professor of Economics and the University of Madrid in 1988 where he taught advanced courses on public policy and economic analysis at the Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros located in Madrid Spain and at various other research centers. Later in 2012 he was appointed a professor at the IESE Business School. The Instituto de Estudios Superiores de la Empresa or International Graduate School of Management is the graduate business school of the University of Navarra and offers executive MBA and Executive Education programs that are consistently ranked among the top 10 in the world
From 1985 to 1994 he acted in the role of an economic adviser to several public and private companies including the Banco de España, the European Commission, The International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank. He has also taken an active role in helping settle financial matters at the Bank for International Settlements and the Organization For Economic Co-operation and Development.
José M Gonzáles has also served in the capacity as a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank until 2012 and was an active member of the Governance Council of the Eurosystem’s principal policymaking body the Governing Council of the ECB.
Much of his expertise in financial matters can be attributed to his being a Fullbright scholar and a member of the European Academy of Arts and Sciences. In addition, has has received a number of awards including the Charles the Fifth Medal of the German Spanish Chamber of Commerce among others.
